01What WorkCraft is
WorkCraft is an independent, free open-source community project started and maintained by visoire. It consists of three components governed by these terms:
- This website, which presents WordCraft, GridCraft, DeckCraft, and PdfCraft, allows running them in the browser or downloading native builds, and provides contact forms, support chat, a member portal, and an administrative dashboard.
- WorkCraft, a local-first workspace shell published at github.com/visoire/workcraft under
MIT OR Apache-2.0. WorkCraft provides the workspace shell, window management, split and picture-in-picture layout engine, project tree, local companion server (Hono on127.0.0.1), terminal and Git integrations, project snapshots, and the Model Context Protocol (MCP) orchestration layer. - Support: responses to community inquiries sent through the website contact form or chat.
Where an open-source license grants you rights to the software, that license governs, and nothing in these terms restricts those statutory rights.
02Your files
What you create with the apps and WorkCraft belongs entirely to you. The apps open files from your local storage and save them back to it. WorkCraft stores projects exclusively in a local directory on your computer (~/WorkCraft/projects/). This website and the WorkCraft project never receive, host, or inspect your documents, spreadsheets, presentations, or PDF files.
Keep backups. The embedded crafting engines are in alpha. Complex files can experience formatting variations upon save. Maintain copies of mission-critical originals. WorkCraft project snapshots provide local versioning assistance but are not a substitute for regular offline backups.
03Upstream engines and licenses
Architectural Separation: WorkCraft maintains a strict architectural and organizational separation between the WorkCraft workspace and the embedded crafting engines:
- WorkCraft Workspace: WorkCraft provides the workspace shell, window management, project tree, local companion server, and Model Context Protocol (MCP) orchestration layer. WorkCraft codebase is licensed under
MIT OR Apache-2.0at your choice. - Independent Upstream Engines: WordCraft, GridCraft, DeckCraft, and PdfCraft are independent open-source engines developed by storytold, the ArtCraft team, and contributors (github.com/storytold) under their respective open-source licenses (
MIT OR Apache-2.0). - Preservation of Upstream Notices: All upstream copyright notices, author credits, and license files are maintained intact in every distribution and under
versions/andapps/. WorkCraft runs official release builds (with only documented startup patches necessary for browser runtime compatibility; the current builds need none).
This website. The website's proprietary code, text, branding, and design are private and closed source (all rights reserved). Engine screenshots are reproduced under their respective open-source licenses.
04AI providers in WorkCraft
WorkCraft chat connects to third-party AI providers you select: Claude (Anthropic), ChatGPT (OpenAI), Gemini (Google), DeepSeek, local models via Ollama, or custom OpenAI-compatible endpoints. Cloud models operate strictly via your own user-configured API keys. Your use of any provider is governed directly by that provider's terms and privacy policies, and the provider bills you directly. WorkCraft is not a party to that relationship.
- AI responses and file modifications suggested by AI models may contain errors. Always review changes prior to acceptance.
- Terminal shell commands and PDF digital signatures initiated by AI tools require explicit user approval on each execution. You are solely responsible for actions you approve.
- PDF signature blocks generated via AI tools represent visual annotations, not cryptographic digital signatures.
05Accounts, portal and dashboard
No user account is required to use the standalone apps or WorkCraft. Accounts are available strictly by invitation for collaborators and community contributors. If you have an account, you agree to:
- Use an authorized email address and maintain the confidentiality of your password, authentication codes, and recovery codes;
- Notify us promptly via the contact page if you suspect unauthorized access to your account;
- Treat any administrative dashboard data regarding other users or communications as strictly confidential.
We reserve the right to suspend accounts that engage in abusive conduct. You may delete your account at any time through your dashboard settings.
06Website chat and support
The website chat provides automated information from WorkCraft documentation and help guides, supplemented by an AI assistant when enabled. AI responses may contain inaccuracies; request human assistance for authoritative answers. Do not transmit passwords, API keys, financial data, or sensitive personal information through the chat or contact forms.
Community support is provided on a voluntary, best-effort basis without service level agreements or guaranteed response times.
07Acceptable use
You agree not to use the contact forms, chat, portal, or website infrastructure to transmit spam, malware, or unlawful content; to circumvent rate limits, cryptographic proofs-of-work, or authentication safeguards; to probe, scan, or disrupt website systems; or to impersonate visoire, the ArtCraft team, or any other entity. Report security vulnerabilities privately in accordance with our security policy.
